Availability

I'm currently booked on both a primary project and a secondary project, but please feel free to contact me if you're interested in learning about how I can help you on a future project. What is a primary or secondary project you might ask? Well, the projects I work on generally fall into the following categories:

  • Primary - These projects are usually full-time, long term projects where most of the work is done on-site. These projects last 6 or more months. You can think of these as my 'day job'.
  • Secondary - These are small projects that do not require a full-time commitment, are usually done remotely and are shorter in duration.

Rate

My rates vary based on many factors but in general I use the following rate tiers:

  • Premium Rate – This is my standard rate that I charge for conventional project work. I consider a project “conventional” if my client is going to maintain exclusive ownership of the deliverables I produce during the course of the project.
  • Discount Rate - I charge a discount rate (generally 15% off of my premium rate) for projects in which the deliverables I produce during the course of the project are going to be made freely available to anyone under the terms of an OSI approved open source license.

The discount rate benefits my clients in two ways; first they get their deliverables for reduced costs and secondly the can leverage the benefits of the open source development model. The discount rate benefits me as well. It allows me to make a contribution back to the open source community while still getting paid and it allows me to showcase my work to other future clients.
